Students from St Aidan's high school came on their work experience for one week in May. On the 2ndJune 4 teaching staff and 18 pupils came to A&G and took part in a car wash to raise money for school funds. 25 cars were washed raising over £200. The weather was kind and all the children had a great time, especially enjoying the lunch.
In memory of her cousin Nicola, on 6th July Hayley Riedel completed a 15,000 feet sky dive. Once again, we have been able to offer 4 St Aiden’s pupils a 4-year mechanical engineering apprenticeship. The first year is take up at Training 2000 where they will be taught basic engineering and safety skills. Due to winning a significant DLF package it was necessary to increase our 5 axis capacity by purchasing a multi palleted machining centre. This will provide a 15 pallet lights off facility to meet our Customers delivery and cost down requirements.
Completing the hard metal cell, A&G will take delivery in January 2019 of the second i-500 machine.These machines provide highly versatile full simultaneous 5-axis vertical machining, that can machine multiple and complex curved surfaces, with high-precision in a single setup.
A&G Metal Treatments is a provider of non-destructive testing, wet processes, surface treatments priming and painting.The facility is AS9100 rev D accredited and all our processes are carried out under our NADCAP approvals.
The annual A&G open nights took place the11th & 13th December 2018 with over 40 people attending. This event gives potential apprentices and their families the opportunity to meet the A&G staff, tour the manufacturing facilities and learn what an engineering apprenticeship involves.
Once again A&G were invited to attend the St Aidan's careers fair. This event is always well attended by year 9, 10 and 11 students, together with their parents and guardians. The A&G stand was very popular as one of the area’s premier employers offering students work placements and engineering apprenticeships
